SNowed In

Montana weather is so unpredictable. You can’t trust the weather forecast because it changes too often. They have been telling us snow is on the way, but it has been a fairly mild winter. Until today.

I was awakened at 5:00 am to the call from the school, announcing that kids would be given a snow day. I begrudgingly rolled out of bed knowing that didn’t mean a snow day for me. I still had animals that begged to be fed, neighbors driveways to plow and a full day of work ahead of me.

I pulled on my pants, and then a sweater, and then pulled my coveralls out of the closet. At the sight of those, my dog got so excited and impatiently waited to be let outside. Ever since she was a puppy, she knows that if I am wearing those, she gets to go for a ride, on HER machine.

It doesn’t matter that snow gets stuck in her paws. If that machine is running, she makes it known that she will not be left behind. So dressed up like the boy from “A Christmas Story”, I waddle my way out in the almost knee deep snow.

After hours of plowing and getting the initial work done, only getting stuck once.. I parked my side by side and called it a day. I quickly realized that as fast as I was able to plow, the snow was falling down. I guess plowing six inches at a time is better than plowing 18 inches at once though. Right?

I was able to warm back up by sitting with my Grandma and reading to her for a little while before making a second attempt. But alas, my attempts were futile. This snow has come to stay.

So bundle up, and grab something warm to drink. Enjoy a snowy evening with a fun new project. I plan on getting a few painted myself!

I have mentioned that I collaborate with other amazing women. Make sure you check out my friend over at MaddiMo Makery on Facebook for painting tips and tricks. I have learned the most from her and my own painting skills improve with her help. Stay warm!
